Benson Shines in Panthers Loss to Gators

The Panthers of Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences faced off against the Sage Gator's on Tuesday evening in the Battle of New Scotland Avenue. Sage posted the 4-2 win on their opening day to improve to 1-0, while the Panthers fall to 2-1.

Even though the Gators got on the scoreboard first early in the game with goals at 5:16 and then again at 30:16 the Panthers fought back hard and scored at 39:21 as rookie Katie Benson (Clifton Park, NY/Shenendehowa) beat Sage's keeper in a one and one and broke up Sage's shutout bid. Benson would then tie up the game at 71:32 on a feed from rookie Sydney Rule (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa).

Sage would break the tie up shortly after at 72:19 and then push in an insurance goal at 89:36 to cap the scoring for the night. Sage held a 17-15 edge on shots in the non-conference match.

ACPHS's sophomore Amy Jagareski (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) made three saves in the loss while Gator keeper Maloney made five saves in goal.

ACPHS is back in action again on September 6 at 1:30pm at home in the Championship game of the Panther Invitational.
