Panthers Down the Broncos and Mighty Oaks

SUNY DELHI BOX SCORE

SUNY ESF BOX SCORE

The Panthers went 2-0 on the weekend as they defeated SUNY Delhi at home on Saturday 4-0 and then topped SUNY ESF 5-2 on the road on Sunday.

The Panthers shut out the SUNY Delhi Broncos, outshooting them 24-4. Tallying goals for the Panthers were Katie Parsels, Rachael Spina, Sydney Rule, and Erin Tersegno

The ACPHS women's soccer team then travelled to Syracuse on Sunday to face HVIAC and USCAA opponents the Mighty Oaks of SUNY ESF. The Panthers came out big with a 5-2 victory on the road.

The Mighty Oaks struck first in the opening minutes of the game as Heather Carl headed a corner kick into the back of the net to put ESF up 1-0. Possession was shared for most of the first half but Panthers midfielder Rachael Spina fought and chased down a loose ball in the box placing it in the goal to knot the score at one each.

The Mighty Oaks answered right back as Heather Carl found the back of the net a second time to put the Oaks up 2-1. As the clock ticked down on the half the Panthers gained possession of the ball and Katie Benson scored the tying goal to send the teams off 2-2.

The second half would see an invigorated Panthers squad as they dominated possession and saw goals by Katie Parsels, and Erin Tersegno who scored the last two goals to put the game to bed.

Junior Keeper Amy Jagareski kept the Panthers in the game turning aside 9 shots, including some key saves in the second half to preserve the win.

The Panthers will travel to Maine to play the defending USCAA National Champions University of Maine at Fort Kent on Saturday October 3rd at 1pm, and then face the University of Maine Presque Isle on Sunday October 4th at 11am.
