Men's Soccer Loses Battle With Union

Box Score SCHENECTADY, NY—Union College scored two second-half goals to lead them past ACPHS in a non-league matchup, Tuesday night at College Park.

The Dutchmen improve to 9-4-1, while the Panthers go to 9-5-2.

The Panthers defense came up strong holding off the Dutchmen for the first half. The Dutchmen came close in the 35th minute, but Panthers goalkeeper Matt Houlihan came up big and denied back-to-back close range efforts.

ACPHS had its best chance of the half just two minutes later when Noah Keith guided a strike into the hands of Union goalkeeper John Weitzman after being sprung on a breakaway.

Union was finally able to get on the scoreboard on a set piece in the 66th minute with a strike into the top left corner from 18 yards out. The Dutchmen were able to double their lead in the 75th minute when they curled a low strike in off the post.

The Dutchmen outshot the Panthers 31-5 for the contest, with Houlihan stopping nine shots for the Panthers.

The number two seeded Panthers will return to conference action at home on Saturday, October 22nd when they host the HVIAC semi-final game against the number three seed SUNY ESF at 5:00pm.
