Box Score
ACPHS fell behind in the second quarter and could never quite recover on Sunday, falling to the Alfred State Pioneers 67-37 in the consolation game of the 2016 Panther Tip-off tournament. With the loss, ACPHS falls to start the year and Alfred State gets their first win at 1-2.

The Panthers held a 14-12 lead after the first period, large in part to their 8 of 8 mark from the free-throw line.  Senior Rebecca Foote came out of the gates hot, recording four points, three rebounds and an assist in the opening frame.

ACPHS could not keep it going though, as they were outscored by 14 in the second quarter. Alfred State got contributions from the whole team in the half, with nine players recording points and 22 of their 36 off the bench. The Pioneers shot 15-36 in the first (41.7%) and forced the Panthers into 17 turnovers.

Going into the second half with a 12 point advantage, the Pioneers did not let up. ACPHS only scored 13 points in 20 minutes and committed 37 turnovers by game's end. Alfred State's Catherine Bialecki scored a game-high 16 points, while Breana Gleaton followed closely behind her with 14. April Acosta recorded six steals on the day, and Michayla Salatel led the Pioneers with five assists.

For the Panthers, freshman Emma Webster (Cadyville, NY / Saranac High) led the way with 11 points, while junior Dannie Griffin (Paramus, NJ / Paramus Catholic) added 10 points and nine rebounds. Probably the most telling stat of the day was bench scoring, with the Pioneers receiving 29 points compared to ACPHS's zero.

Next up for ACPHS is a trip to HVCC on Tuesday, November 22nd, when they take on the Vikings at 5pm in Troy, NY. Alfred State stays home for a date with Medaille on the same day at 6pm.
