Box Score ACPHS Men's Soccer topped the SUNY Ulster Senators on Tuesday night, winning by a score of 5-0. The Panthers are now 7-4-1 on the year, while SUNY Ulster moved to 0-9-1.
Albany bombarded the Senator goal with 29 shots, putting 12 on target in a game they thoroughly dominated. Senior
Jack Hanlon (Guilderland, NY / Guilderland High School) and sophomore
Noah Keith (Rotterdam, NY / CBA) were the stars of the game for Albany, each pouring in a goal and two assists. Hanlon's first assist came on the game's first goal in the 18
th minute, when he curled a low cross around the Senator defense which senior
Mina Girgis (Canyon Country, CA / John Burroughs HS) headed past Ulster keeper Osvaldo Lopez-Arango for his team-leading 12
th goal.
Albany doubled their advantage in the 26
th minute following a cross from Girgis that found the right foot of sophomore
Dylan Davie (Chittenango, NY / Chittenango). Davie skipped past a defender and drilled a shot into the bottom corner to give ACPHS a 2-0 lead.
Albany would take a 3-0 advantage into the half thanks to Hanlon, who found himself all alone in front of net in the 41
st minute and lobbed the oncoming keeper for his third goal of the year.
ACPHS would tack on two more in the 2
nd half to seal the victory, one from
Austin Myers (Morrisonville, NY / Saranac High) assisted by Keith and one from Keith himself. Senior keeper
Matt Houlihan (Levittown, NY / Kellenberg Memorial High School) only played the first half, making just one save, which was enough to move his record on the year to 7-4-1.
Albany picks up conference play again this weekend when they travel to Berkeley College on Saturday, October 14
th at 8pm.
