Box Score ACPHS topped Davis College 7-0 on Wednesday night following a 2
nd half outburst. With the win, the Panthers are now 5-1-1 in the HVIAC and 9-4-1 overall. The Davis Falcons fell to 1-7-1 in the league and 2-10-1 on the year.
ACPHS had the lion's share of possession in the first half, and created plenty of chances with it, but were unable to put any of them past Falcon keeper Jackson Henri who made 10 saves on the day. Their best chance came when senior forward
Mina Girgis (Canyon Country, CA / John Burroughs HS) found sophomore
Austin Myers (Morrisonville, NY / Saranac High) with a smooth back-heel pass which Myers finished off, but the goal was disallowed due to the offside flag. The teams went into the half scoreless, but with ACPHS outshooting Davis 11-4.
Head coach
Jon Piraino's halftime team talk must have struck a chord with the Panthers though, as they would score seven unanswered goals in the 2
nd half. The first came just six minutes in, when freshman
Zachary Lanoue (Troy, NY / Averill Park High School) put Girgis in position to add to his hefty goal tally on the year. Girgis drilled a shot into the lower left-hand corner of the net for his team-leading 15
th goal, and the Panthers never looked back. From the 60
th to 64
th minute, Albany received goals from Myers, senior
Kyle Jenkins (Holbrook, NY / Sachem East High School), and Lanoue which put the game out of reach for the Falcons. Myers notched his 2
nd goal of the night in the 73
rd minute, with freshmen
Lucas Teodoro (West Hartford, CT / Conard High School) and
Firas Siddiqui (Allentown, PA / Parkland High School) wrapping up the game's scoring in the final 10 minutes.
Albany finished the game with an astounding 31 shots, 17 of which went on goal.
Matt Houlihan was not tested often, but made three saves in just over 78 minutes to improve his season record to 8-4-1.
ACPHS continues conference play this weekend, with matchups away to the Culinary Institute on Saturday and home to Pratt Institute on Sunday, October 22
