Benson's Hat Trick Leads Panthers to Victory over Bryant and Stratton

The ACPHS Women's Soccer earned their first road victory of the season as they traveled to Syracuse, NY to face USCAA opponents Bryant and Stratton College on Sunday, September 10th.

The Panthers were able to get on the scoreboard first with a goal from Junior Erin Tersegno in the 12th minute, assisted by Junior Katie Benson. Despite many goal scoring opportunities from both teams, the score remained 1-0 at the half.

The second half started off with Junior Sydney Rule picking off a pass from the kick off to start a passing combination to Tersegno, whose pass found Benson in the offensive third. Benson would rip a shot from 20 yards out that found the upper left corner of the goal to give the Panthers a 2-0 advantage just seconds into the half.

The Bobcats netted their only goal of the game from Krystal Taylor to make the game 2-1, but Benson would find the net again two more times, both on breakaways, to finish out the scoring and complete her hat trick to give the Panthers their 4-1 victory.

Sophomore keeper Sally Slowinski had 12 saves in the match, including stopping several breakaway attempts by the Bobcats to preserve the win.

With Sunday's win, the Panthers improve to 2-0 and will return to action on Thursday, September 14th at home against SUNY Delhi at 7pm.
