The ACPHS Women's basketball team dropped their first game of the season on Tuesday, November 5
th, falling to the Bryant & Stratton Bobcats (Albany) 71-40.
Panthers' sophomore guard
Clare Snell came out hot in this one, scoring the game's first four points thanks to some nice defensive work from senior forward
Olivia Parmeter. ACPHS would hold that lead for most of the quarter, before a layup from Bryant's Kori Hardee gave the Bobcats a 12-11 advantage with 2:34 left in the quarter. A free-throw from Snell brought the teams back level a minute later, and that's how they would close the 1
st.
Despite once again jumping out to an early lead, the Panthers went cold on the offensive end right around the 7:36 mark of the 2
nd. The Bobcats closed out the half on a 19-6 run, forcing ACP into seven turnovers along the way.
Bryant and Stratton built on their lead in the 3
rd quarter, outscoring Albany 16-8 and putting the game out of reach. Top scorers for the Bobcats were Qyniece Hylton-Jackson and Kiara Sweeney, who finished with 19 and 17 respectively. Hylton-Jackson also grabbed 20 rebounds, 16 of them on the offensive end.
For ACPHS, Parmeter led the way with 14 points, hitting eight of her ten free-throws. Right behind her was Snell with 12 points on an efficient 4-9 shooting.
Albany will look to bounce back on Thursday when they host Word of Life/Davis College at 6pm.
