Men's Basketball Drops Conference Matchup With Berkeley

Men's Basketball dropped their first conference game of the season on Sunday, falling to the Berkeley College Knights by a score of 70-51. ACPHS is not 3-1 in the HVIAC while Berkeley sits at 4-0.

The teams traded buckets in the opening ten minutes, but it was the Knights who jumped out the early lead. Down 21-15 with 8:13 left in the first half, the Panthers began to push the pace and scored six unanswered to knot the score at 21, but Berkeley responded well, closing the half on a 11-4 run to take a 32-25 lead into the break.

That run turned out to be the difference in the game, as the Knights scored the first five points of the second half and maintained a double-digit lead the rest of the way. Berkeley outscored Albany 24-5 in points off of turnovers and 41-6 in bench points, big indicators as to why ACP never could find their footing in the half.

The day's big performer was Berkeley's Daquan Jackson, who scored 20 points and grabbed eight boards in 28 minutes off the bench. Senior Guard Jordan Simmons tied Jackson for the game-high with 20 while adding 14 rebounds.

THe Panthers resume conference play on Wednesday January 29th when they host Vaughn College at 8:00 PM.
