Men's Basketball dropped their third straight game on Wednesday, falling to the SUNY Orange Colts 77-56 in Albert M. White Gymnasium. Albany is now 6-9 overall on the year.
It was a tough night from the field for the Panthers who made 19 of their 66 attempts (29%) over the game's 40 minutes. Senior guard
Naythan Beltran knocked down a corner three for the first points for either team, but that was the only lead the Panthers held all game.
The Colts built a double-digit lead within the opening ten minutes thanks in large part to their work on the offensive glass. For the game, SUNY outscored ACPHS 40-26 in the paint and 23-8 in second-chance points.
The Panthers cut the lead to six before the break following a spark from freshman guard
Dennis Benjack in the final three minutes, but the lead was up to 14 by the 14:09 mark of the 2nd half. A 14-0 run finally put the game out of reach for the Panthers with 6:19 to go.
Beltran led Albany in scoring with 12, while
Jordan Simmons finished with 11 points and three steals. Senior forward
Edward Ahanmisi filled the stat sheet though, recording five points, seven rebounds, four steals and two assists.
The Panthers get have chance to end their streak when they host SUNY Delhi this coming Monday, January 20th, at 2:00 PM.
