Two first half goals seal the win for ACPHS men

| By:
Box Score Pottersville, N.Y. - After a two game skid entering October, the ACPHS Men's Soccer Team is back to winning ways.  On Wednesday night, the Panthers took a trip north with a mission to take the season series against Word of Life Bible Institute, a team they had beaten 5-1 earlier in the season.

This was no four goal win for ACPHS, but a match that both teams came out well prepared for.

"They came out fast and aggressive.  [Word of Life] is always a tough, hard working ing team.  They showed us that all night."  said ACPHS head coach John Adeseko.

The hard fought match saw the Huskies holding their own for the first 10 minutes, but an early penalty that sent Anes Bostandzic (Utica, N.Y. / Proctor High School) to the spot flipped the momentum.  Bostandzic calmly slotted home the penalty and the Panthers rode that momentum to another goal just minutes later when Zachary Lanoue (Troy, N.Y. / Averill Park) pounced on a loose ball to give the visiting side a 2-0 first half cushion.

"From there on, we took control of the game.  Moving the ball and finding feet and always looking for the right runs."  said Adeseko on his teams performance in the second half.

The Huskies, having nine shots in each half, tried finding the back of the net, but the Panthers back four and senior goalkeeper Ryan Hobson (Red Hook, N.Y. / Red Hook High School) held their ground firmly in cementing the sides sixth clean sheet of the season.

"This team is full of fighters."  said coach Adeseko.  "The will to win rises every game, I'm proud of them for putting in a hard shift and getting another win."

The Panthers, now 7-4 (4-0), will return to defend home turf Saturday, October 9th at 3:00 PM against NHTI on senior night.

"On Saturday - I expect complete focus from the boys" said Adeseko.

Ranked 8th in the latest USCAA coaches poll, ACPHS will look to make it three wins out of three in October.
