Albany, N.Y. - Sunday afternoon, the ACPHS men's basketball team (2-3) lost their second- straight YSCC matchup, 142-77, against New Hampshire Technical Institute.
After struggling in their outing Saturday afternoon, the Panthers came into this matchup looking to get back in the winning column.
First-half breakdown
Once again, ACPHS dug themselves into a hole early – falling down 10-points in the first six minutes. It was all downhill from that point on. NHTI forced the Panthers into 18 turnovers and under 24% shooting from the 3-point line.
On the bright side, ACPHS forced ten turnovers of their own. However, giving NHTI free points by committing eight personal fouls did not help their problems. Heading into halftime, the Panthers were down 66-38 – needing a miracle to complete the comeback.
Second-half recap
Coming out of the locker room, things continued to get worse. Although ACPHS only committed four personal fouls this half, NHTI forced an additional ten turnovers in the second half.
The Panthers never found their footing in this game; in the second half, they were utterly outclassed. In the remaining 20 minutes, NHTI held the Panthers to 37.8% shooting from the field while outrebounding them 34-10.
ACPHS will have to forget about this game and return to the drawing board. The Panthers cannot hold on to the emotions of this game if they want to turn this season around.
What was said after the game?
After the loss, Head Coach Robert Coleman assessed today's match: "As of right now, we are not the team I thought we were. We have to make big adjustments heading into next week."
When do they play next?
The Panthers return to action Friday, Nov. 18, when they travel to Paul Smith's College for their third straight YSCC matchup.
