Women's Basketball set for YSCC Quartfinals

| By:
Albany, N.Y. - It's been a long two weeks for ACPHS Women's Basketball who have just begun preparation for a trip to Maine this weekend as the 6 seed in this years YSCC postseason tournament.  A lengthy layover saw the women miss 6 of their 7 games at the end of the season due to health and safety protocol.  That being said, the Women's side will be feeling like their 4-13 (4-10) record (7 forfeit losses due to untimely notice) can be deceiving for their opponents.

It also brings up the point that the Panthers have not even seen their upcoming opponent live.  Both regular season games against the University of Maine at Augusta were canceled in UMA's favor.  The 3rd-seeded Moose are 16-7 (12-2) including two forfeit wins over ACPHS.

ACPHS will be excited to resume play, finally healthy, with the season on the line.  The girls haven't played since February 8th, a 59-57 win over Paul Smith's.  That game also came after an 11 day pause.  ACPHS had a good showing that night, and will try hard in making recent history repeat itself.

"We have to be the most focused for this game." said Junior Center Hope Walker (Lisbon, NY / Lisbon).  "We're all hyped - a mix of anxiety and excitement.  With all the stop and go this season, we have always made sure to be in the gym together."

The chemistry shows, and Walker preached its importance, mentioning how important it is that when players are held accountable in practice, it shows in games.

Head Coach Lauren Stock also expressed her feelings and motivation heading into this weekends postseason game.

"Girls are excited and optimistic about getting the opportunity to compete in a play-off.  Practice this week was good, we stayed focused and made sure that everyone knew their role within the game plan.  I just want the girls to play with energy, effort, and leave it all on the floor."

The girls will get their opportunity, with the quarterfinal taking place Sunday, February 20th at 1:00pm at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.
