Women's Basketball Opens Season With a Win

Albany, NY - Women's basketball kicked off their new season against Landmark college on Saturday. The team was looking to start the season off strong against a non-conference opponent before their first conference game. In the end, the Panthers came out on top, securing the first win of the new season.

The Panthers were ready to come out and compete to kick off their season. With four new freshmen ready to help the team start a new era, the team was able to quickly get their first win of the season. Ejoraa Ninche (Selden, NY) came out strong for the Panthers scoring 12 points in the first half to lead the Panthers in scoring. Ninche was also able to secure 5 rebounds in the first half as well. The Panthers defense was also a big factor in this game, as Freshmen Ally Bosarge (Port Henry, NY) secured 7 steals in the first half. Skyley Ramsey (Black Hawk, CO) was not too far behind her with 5 steals herself. The Panthers were up big at half, and almost had 3 Panthers with double doubles going into the second half. 

The second half the Panthers kept up their strong game play on both ends of the court. Bosarge got 5 more steals to put her up to 12 total on the game which put her in sole possession of the record for most steals in a single game. Ninche and Ramsey were getting rebounds for the Panthers as Ramsey grabbed 7 and Ninche grabbed 4 in the half. Anna Jensen (Valley Falls, NY) also had a strong performance as she dropped 8 points in the second half. The Panthers won big to help kick off the season with a win. The team was led by Ally Bosarge who led all scorers with 14 points, and 13 steals. Skyley Ramsey almost secured a quadruple double in her debut with 12 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, and 7 steals. Ramsey's 10 assists tied her second for most in a single game. Ejoraa Ninche was one rebound shy of her double double, with 12 points, and 9 rebounds. Anna Jensen was another Panther in double figures, where she finished with 10 points, 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.

Grace Halayko: 6 points, 6 rebounds, 2 blocks
Adriana Yuret: 6 points, 7 rebounds, 5 steals

After the game Skyley Ramsey was asked to touch on how she thought her debut went for the Panthers. She responded saying, "I think that our game today was defietely a show of our chemistry we have built in practice and we only have up to go from here." She was asked about her thoughts on how close she was to her first triple double. She responded with "Next game is a triple double." 

The Panthers will have the whole week to get themselves ready for their first conference game of the year against NHTI.
