Albany, NY - The Panthers suffer hard fought loss to YSCC opponent Seawolves of Southern Maine. In a very physical game where the game was not the results the Panthers wanted, men's soccer played with a lot of heart in this matchup.
The matchup between the Panthers and the Seawolves was physical right from the start. The start of the game saw a foul by each side within the first three minutes of the game. There was 20 total fouls between the teams to show how passionate and competitive this game was. The Panthers totaled sixteen shots in the game with Junior
Jay Carlson (Saratoga Springs, NY) leading the way with 5 shots. The defense was also a major force in this game with Junior
Sam Rowley (Queensbury, NY) and Senior
Matt Maggy (Plattsburgh, NY) with multiple chase downs to stop the Seawolves chances. Going into the half, the scoreboard read 0-0.
The second half saw the Seawolves able to find the back of the net three times to take down the Panthers 3-0. Although the score was not in favor of the Panthers, the Panthers were able to fight and put together 9 shots in the second half. They got their opportunities, they were just not able to find the back of the net as their shots were just wide of the goal. Goalie Senior
Ryan Herrick (Massena, NY) gathered 5 saves throughout the game with a couple beautiful saves in the second half.
The Panthers will have a couple days to work and get ready for an away matchup at SUNY Cobleskill at 4PM in Cobleskill.
