Albany, NY - The soccer teams honored their seniors today before their games against Maine Augusta Moose. Women's soccer honored three seniors while the men honored a whopping nine players.
The men kicked off their game around 2pm following the women's game, but not before they took time to honor their nine seniors. Sahil Arora, Jay Carlson, Luke Desgaches, Noah Desgaches, Ryan Herrick, Chris Meyer, Anthony Ognev, Ryan Prescott, and Sam Rowley were all presented gifts by their coaches and teammates pre-game.
As for the game itself, the Panthers were dominant. Senior Sahil Arora (Clifton Park, NY) took only ten minutes to find the back of the net, thanks to a pass from Ian Rathbun (Queensbury, NY). 5 Minutes later, Sam Rowley (Queensbury, NY) scored his first goal of the night on his big day to take a 2-0 lead. Soon after that, Rathbun recorded his second assist, this time finding senior Jay Carlson (Saratoga, NY) for a 3-0 halftime lead.
The Panthers came out of the half firing, scoring 2 goals in the span of 15 seconds just about 10 minutes into the half. The first goal was Carlson's second of the night (with a Vincent DeVito assist) while the second goal was Rowley's second goal (with a Ryan Prescott assist) and all of a sudden the lead was 5-0. The Panthers then eased up on the offensive, but freshman Abdur Rahman Ahmed scored his first career goal to push the lead to 6.
4 of the seniors ended up scoring or assisting in the game. The final score ended up being 6-0 as the Panthers next game will be on Thursday at Hampshire College.
