Albany, NY - The soccer teams honored their seniors today before their games against Maine Augusta Moose. Women's soccer honored three seniors while the men honored a whopping nine players.
The women kicked off at noon, but before they did that, seniors Mykala Brodzinski, Isabella Mancini, and Raegan Wendel were all presented gifts by their coaches and teammates, honoring their time with the team. All 3 players were part of the 2022 National Championship Team and would go on to make some big plays on their senior day.
The Panthers controlled the ball early on with Mya Wright (Liverpool, NY) finding the back of the net about 13 minutes into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Moose soon answered to tie the game, but the Panthers would quickly regain the lead after a goal from Ka'ena Kehano (Waluku, HI) for a halftime lead of 2-1.
Only 5 minutes into the second half, team captain and senior Raegan Wendel (Clifton Park, NY) found teammate Julia Roemer (Latham, NY) to extend their lead. About 5 minutes after that, senior Izzy Mancini (Galway, NY) scored on a diving header from a beautiful corner kick from Kehano. Kehano would then score her second goal of the game another 5 minutes later to push the lead to 5-1.
Seniors Wendel and Mancini helped the team score on their big day while the third senior Mykala Brodzinski recorded 3 saves.
The Panthers next game, which is also their last regular season game, is a pink out game on 10/22 against Paul Smith's College.
