Albany, NY - The men's basketball team played in their final game before winter break on Sunday afternoon against next door neighbor Russell Sage College.
Playing their third game in four days, the Panthers began the game on a roll. Logan Yohe (Delmar, NY) and Brett Richards (Kinderhook, NY) scored 17 of the first 19 points for the Panthers as they built an early double digit lead for themselves. However, the Panthers soon hurt themselves through foul trouble and poor three point shooting as the Gators came back and tied the game at halftime.
After the break, exhaustion began to set in. The Panthers kept it close for the first few minutes of the half, but the Gators then went on a 23-4 run to put the game away. The Panthers continued to hurt themselves by shooting only 44% from the free throw line while missing every three pointer they took. Richards would go on to finish with 19 points and 9 rebounds while Yohe and Michael Leak (Delanson, NY) both finished with 7 points.
After a painful second half the Panthers would go on to lose the game 72-45. It's only their third loss of the season as they are now 10-3 with a conference record of 4-1.
