Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

WBB Has Senior Night!

Albany, NY - The basketball teams hosted the Great Bay Herons on a day where the women celebrated their two seniors on the team! Emma Russell and Ejoraa Ninche were both honored before the games to celebrate their careers with the Panthers!

Once the celebration was complete, the women tipped off at 1pm against their conference rival. It was a runaway right from the beginning with the Panthers outsourcing the Herons 22-6 in the first quarter, led by Akosua Adu-Gyamfi (Holden, MA) who had 8 points in the period. The second was more of the same as the Panthers outscored the Herons by 9 to give themselves a 40-17 lead at the break.

In the second half, the Panthers continued to run away with it.  They outscored Great Bay 38-22 in the half to secure a 78-37 victory. Freshman Adora Cho (Great Neck, NY) nearly had a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and 8 assists. Adu-Gyamfi finished with 11 points while Samantha Howland (Whitehall, NY) and Nadia Osmani (Cohoes, NY) combined for 18 points and 16 rebounds.

Shortly after the women's game concluded, the men tipped off in a much more physical game. Fouls were called left and right on both teams in the first half, but despite the physicality, the Panthers found themselves down by only 2 points at the break. Alex Carrillo (Akron, OH) had 13 points to lead the Panthers at halftime.

The second half was all Logan Yohe (Delmar, NY). He scored 24 of his 29 in the half to lead the Panthers in a 59-33 route after the break. Carrillo scored 6 more points but dished out 7 assists to finish the game with 19 points and 8 assists.  The team collectively shot about 59% from both the field and three-point range as they went on to win the game 93-69.

The men will hit the road tomorrow as they head to Vermont to take on the VSTU Knights while the women have to wait until Wednesday for their next game against North Country Community College.
