The ACPHS women's basketball team defeated the College of New Rochelle by a score of 72-55 on Thursday night. Four Panthers (12-3, 3-0 HVWAC) were in double figures as
Alyson Johnson led the team with 19 points, five assists and five blocked shots.
The Panthers stormed out to an early 22-8 advantage, as Johnson sparked the offense with eight early points. With just over three minutes remaining in the half,
Kelsey Johnson, who had 11 points and seven assists in the game, scored to give ACPHS their biggest advantage of the night at 41-23. The Blue Angels were able to cut into the deficit a bit as the Panthers went into the break with a 41-27 lead.
In the second half, New Rochelle slowly worked its way back into the game, and pulled to within seven points a couple different times, but ACPHS forced 23 turnovers and shot 53% from the field to seal the victory.
Taylor Sullivan had 18 points and seven rebounds, while
Alexa Schooley had 14 points and a team-high eight rebounds for ACPHS who return to action on Saturday afternoon in a key Hudson Valley Women's Athletic Conference matchup against St. Joseph's (NY).
