PANTHERS GO COLD IN SECOND HALF, SUFFER FIRST HVIAC LOSS

The Albany College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences women's basketball team (10-2, 2-1 Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) saw its chances to remain unbeaten in HVIAC action ruined by a frigid second half shooting performance in a 44-38 loss to visiting Berkeley College (9-2, 3-0 HVIAC) Sunday afternoon at Albert M. White Gymnasium.

The Panthers, who led by as many as 17 points and 31-21 at halftime, but made just three of 27 field goal attempts (11.1 percent) and scored only seven points in the second half en route to a six-point defeat.

Neither team scored for the first 5:18 of the second period with the Panthers not getting on the board until Megan Serley drained a three-pointer with 9:52 left in the ballgame.

Taylor Sullivan finished with a 10-point, 12-rebound double-double to lead ACPHS with Alexa Schooley adding eight points and seven rebounds. Kelsey Johnson pulled down nine rebounds and blocked five shots.

Berkeley point guard Janay Thomas scored a game-high 19 points and banked in the go-ahead three-pointer with 1:25 left as a part of a game-ending 8-0 run. The Panthers did not score for the final four minutes and 21 seconds of the ballgame.

ACPHS is back in action at 5:00 pm tomorrow evening when it hosts SUNY Delhi in a non-conference game.
