Auburn, ME - The volleyball team traveled up to Maine to take on Central Maine in the first round of the playoffs.
The Panthers were short handed without their libero Angelina Tamburro, but that didn't stop them from putting up a good fight. Morgan Bohlke (Glenville, NY) and Vidhika Khemani (St. Thomas, USVI) both led the team with 5 kills, but the Panthers went on to lose the first set 25-17.
In the second set, the Panthers fought hard and didn't let the Mustangs gain a lead larger than 3 points, always coming back to tie it. The set went into OT with the Panthers winning it 27-25, led by Kathryn Braun's team high 10 assists.
The Mustangs dominated the third set, jumping to a 12-2 lead in the blink of an eye. This time the deficit was too much for the Panthers to handle and they ended up losing 25-9.
Morgan Richards (Corinth, NY) and Khemani combined for 6 of the team's 11 aces throughout the match while Bohlke led the team in digs with 16. In the fourth set, the Panthers played well jumping to an 11-8 lead, but the Mustangs flipped a switch and went on a dominant run outscoring the Panthers 17-4 the rest of the set to win 25-15.
The Mustangs took the match 3-1 to move on to the next round of the playoffs. In a season highlighted by the sweep of Great Bay and Kirstun Buenviaje's senior night, the Panthers finish their second season with a record of 3-10.
