Pottersville, NY - The Panthers team headed up to Pottersville to take on the Word of Life Huskies for the second time this season. In their first meeting this year, which was the season opener, the Panthers won by a score of 3-1.
The second game, played on Wednesday night, proved to be a back and forth battle early on. The Panthers took the first two sets each by only 2 points; 25-23 for the first and 26-24 in the second thanks to back-to-back kills for Abby Kievit (Oneonta, NY) who finished the game with a team high 9 kills. Speaking of team highs,
Kathryn Braun (Guilderland, NY) led the way with 17 assists and was a major factor into taking a 2-0 lead.
Despite a game high 40 digs from Libero
Angelina Tamburro (Hudson, NY) and another 30 from Braun, the Huskies took the next two sets by a score of 25-17 and 25-16, tying the game and sending it to a 5th set. Similar to the first two sets, the final one was very back and forth between the teams and was decided by only 2 points. Unfortunately, the Panthers were on the losing end this time despite another strong performance from
Morgan Bohlke (Glenville, NY) who added another 6 kills and 26 digs to the Panthers effort. The Huskies won the match 3-2 to even the season series.
The Panthers do not play again until Saturday afternoon against Great Bay in Pottersville, and then back-to-back games Sunday morning against CMCC and SMCC at 9am and 11am at home.
